Ben Bentham on the 15th of January 1990, having just broken through into The Trenches from the mammoth Fawlty Towers dig, bypassing Peak Cavern's infamous Wind Tunnel. This connection created easier access to the more remote parts of the system leading to discovries including The White River Series in 1991.Photo: Shaun Puckering 15/01/1990 Enlarge

Treasury Sump, Peak Cavern. This 30m long sump to the Lower Bung Streamway in Speedwell Cavern. Conditions in the sump can vary, making it anything from an easy dive in a roomy passage to a desperately tight grovel. A good flood usually clears it out!Photo: Tim Hallam 2002 Enlarge
