Giant's Hole - loose P hanger - February 2004.
Report from Sam Townsend - The left-hand for the two P hangers above the Crabwalk at the abseil point in the Upper Series is slightly loose and needs checking. It may have been loosened by people attempting to remove the in situ Maillon Rapides. These Maillons are there to act as sacrificial wear points protecting the P hangers. They are locked with Locktight to prevent removal. Once worn the only way to remove them is with bolt croppers.
Public Liability Insurance - February 2004.
Proof of Public Liability Insurance combined with landowner indemnification is now required for cavers wishing to visit JH (James Hall's Over Engine Mine, Rowter Hole and Eyam Dale House Cave.
Caves of the Peak District - February 2004.
At long last, it seems as though an updated "Caves of the Peak District" guidebook is in the pipeline. The DCA have given the go ahead and a meeting has taken place with a publisher. Don't hold your breath though. The production of this guide will require a lot of effort and will take a considerable amount of time....
